Tatak Elementary School is located in Barangay Sapakan, Mamasapano, Maguindanao. Tatak family donated the land for the establishment of the school. In 2010, a rebel group took over the place and school was closed for two years but through time, issues of armed conflict is no longer major concern inside the barangay (as shared by the school head and teachers during the assessment in September 2016). Recently, the Basic Education Assistance for Muslim Mindanao (BEAM-ARMM) awarded four classrooms to the school.
Based on the school’s School Improvement Plan, Barangay Sapakan is classified as rural and is Muslim-dominated and majority of the members of the community are Maguindanaon. The primary means of livelihood of the people are farming and small businesses. The community is affected by flood and armed conflicts. Tatak Elementary School served as evacuation center twice in school year 2014-2015.
For the next three years (2015 to 2018), the school targets to achieve the following:
